The main differences between old and new Fuse boxes are the technology and safety.

Old fuse boxes will only protect against overcurrent. They do not protect against electric shock or other fault conditions as they do not have 30ma RCDs fitted.

All new Consumer Units we install come with RCD / or RCBOs and Surge Protection.
